What Is The Elation Path
To borrow the words of Sparkle: “What is Elation?”. Well to answer that question, the game has released an entire brand new playable path for new characters from Honkai Star Rail version 4.0 update patch forward in the form of the Elation Path.

The Elation path debuts with the release of the two brand new characters Yao Guang and Sparkxie and is a brand new path for players to experience similar to the addition of Remembrance in version 3.0.
The Elation Path characters and abilities revolve mainly around these important different gimmicks: The Aha Instant, Elation Skills, Certified Banger status and Punchline stacks. Additionally, with the introduction of the Elation path, a brand new stat called the Elation Damage stat is introduced into the game for players to consider when building Elation characters.
The Aha Instant
The main damaging gimmick of the Elation Path characters and the main goal for an Elation team to optimize in order to be able to deal as much damage as possible. The Aha Instant is a special damage Instant in the form of a separate action from characters and enemies on the action bar.

At the start of the turn, as long as any characters in the team has the special Certified Banger status, then an Aha Instant will be introduced into the battle and will be active throughout the fight. The more Elation characters are in the team, the faster the Aha Instant will be and the more damage it will deal. A total of 3 Elation characters maximum can be accounted for during the calculation.
The Aha Instant has its own separate Speed Counter and Action Counter and once it takes action, it will do special Elation Damage to enemies based on different factors like Punchline stacks, characters’ Elation Skills and more.
The Aha Instant Damage is not affected by the usual Elemental Damage% due to its damage being considered as non-elemental damage. Upon the Aha Instant activating, it will cleanse the party of debuffs, consumes all of the Punchline stacks from the entire team to deal damage proportional to the stacks, activates all Elation characters’ Elation Skills, then recover a set amount of Energy for allies and grants Punchline stacks to the team equal to the amount of Elation characters in the team.
Certified Banger and Punchline
Certified Banger and Punchline are two statuses that players need to keep in mind for the Elation damage team when building the team in order to maximize the effects of the Aha Instant.
Certified Banger is a status that is granted to characters when they enter the battlefield, most of the time only on Elation characters. When granted Certified Banger, the character’s stats will be taken into account for the Aha Instant, meaning that the stats and damage of the Aha Instant will be dependent on the total amount of stats from the characters granted Certified Banger. Additionally, characters with Certified Banger’s damage will also affect the overall Elation damage output of The Aha Instant. Up to 3 different characters with Certified Banger can be taken into account for the Aha Instant damage and for the Aha Instant to reach maximum speed.

Punchline is a special stack status that can be gained and spent to strengthen the damage output of the Aha Instant, depending on the Elation characters’ skill kits and abilities. Some Elation characters’ kit focuses on obtaining as many Punchlines stacks as possible while others strengthen the damage dealt by consuming Punchline stacks. The Punchline stacks are indicated with a number counter on top of each characters’ head, signifying how many punchline stacks each character has produced.
Once The Aha Instant is triggered, it will consume all Punchline stacks from all characters that had Certified Banger to initiate a damage instant, the more Punchline stacks are consumed, the more damage the Aha Instant will deal to enemies. Afterward, the Punchlines stacks will be reset and a set amount of Punchline stacks will be granted based on the amount of Elation characters in the team. To maximize the damage potential of the Aha Instant, players want to gain as many Punchline stacks as possible before triggering the Aha Instant.
Elation Skill & Damage Calculation
For the different Elation characters they will have access to a special skill known as Elation Skills. These skills are special skills that will be activated upon certain conditions being met, mostly when the Aha Instant triggers.

Elation skills for the different Elation characters have different effects depending on their skill kits, but the main important thing with them is that they all do Elation damage to enemies and either consume or generate Punchline stacks depending on the characters’ skill kits. Upon the Aha Instant triggering, all Elation characters with an Elation skill will automatically use their Elation Skill once each to deal Elation damage to enemies. This damage will be calculated and combined into the Aha Instant damage.
As mentioned before, the Elation Damage in the game is an additional type of special damage that is not considered elemental damage, so they are completely unaffected by Elemental Damage Bonuses and Attack. Therefore, to boost the Elation damage output of the characters’ Elation skills and Aha Instant, the only way players can boost them is through the brand new Elation Damage Bonus stat that is present on certain relic, ornaments and character traces.
Additionally special effects to directly boost Elation damage like Merrymaking effect from Yao Guang also provides a direct boost to the final Elation damage. In addition, the more punchline stacks are consumed, the more Elation damage will be dealt overall, so increasing the team’s Punchline stacks is still the main priority of the Elation team in order to maximize the damage potential of the Aha Instant damage output.
